Elleni Bereded-Samuel was born in Ethiopia. Elleni has focused her life's work on strengthening education, training and employment for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities in Australia.
Her dynamic leadership has resulted in new solutions for community to access and participate in society. From 2005-2011 she served as the first African born Commissioner appointed to the Victorian Multicultural Commission. For six years she served on the Board of Directors of The Women's Hospital and chairs the Community Advisory Committee. Elleni also served for three years as the inaugural member of the Australian Social Inclusion Board and she is a Director of SBS Board.
Elleni is one of 40 Australian champions independently selected as the People of Australia Ambassadors appointed by the Prime Minster. Late last year she was recognized as one of the hundred most influential African Australians and named 2012 Living Legend. Elleni has a vision for a fairer and more just Australian society. Elleni is the founding member of Brimbank Social Justice Coalition and recently worked as the Community Development Manager at Victoria University
