Shorna worked as a lawyer in Insurance & Corporate Risk at Minter Ellison but her passion for social justice let her to the community legal sector.
Shorna is the Chair of The Lighthouse Foundation Committee and sits on the Committee for the Human Rights Art and Film Festival, Wyndham Humanitarian Network and the H3 Wyndham Alliance. She was previously involved with PILCH Homeless Person's Legal Clinic, Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, First Step Rehabilitation Program, Springvale Monash Legal Service and the Sudanese Integrated Learning Program.
Shorna is the author of the report 'An Invisible Demographic – Youth and the Law in Melbourne's West' (2012) and 'Outer Sight Out Of Justice: Finding pathways to justice for Melbourne's outer-metropolitan areas' (2014).
Shorna has an Honours degree in Law and a Bachelor of Commerce at Monash University and was admitted to practice as a Barrister and Solicitor in 2010. In her spare time, Shorna teaches casually, having also completed a Diploma of Yoga Teaching.
Shorna was awarded the 2010 Dean's Honour for the Faculty of Business and Economics Monash University and received the Hunt & Hunt Prize for Property in 2006.
